 Originally built in
1842 by local Rockville merchants, the Mechams, the Italianate/Creek Revival architecture
of the old home still retains all its flavor. In 1982. Mark and Sharon Nolin purchased the
home. The Nolins were in the process of restoring the old home when a 1989 tornado caused
extensive damage to the roof and interior of the house. The Nolins decided to completely
remove the interior of the house and begin again. It was then they discovered that the
original house was of post and beam construction with all the joints pegged with wooden
dowels. The timber was native yellow poplar. Mark an Sharon restored the home to its
original construction and live their with three boys, Nathan, Caleb and Joshua. In 1996,
the Nolins added the INN, but where careful to retain the ambiance and grandeur of the
original 1842 main house.
